Unstoppable Seniors Raise Record Amount for Stamford Health’s Hope in Motion Walk

Continuing to set the bar higher, Edgehill residents proudly raised $75,287 for this year’s Hope in Motion Walk. The annual event, held June 8th in Mill River Park, supports the needs of patients at Stamford Health’s Bennett Cancer Center. The residents of Edgehill, a premier continuing care retirement community, have raised more than $425,000 since their first walk 11 years ago. The money helps provide patients with practical items like transportation, babysitting costs, emergency loans and meals, as well as comfort services like massage.
A Legacy of Giving Back
Edgehill, Stamford’s premier continuing care retirement community, has participated in the Hope in Motion Walk for the past 11 years—raising over $425,000 to date. These contributions help fund essential services for cancer patients, including transportation, emergency loans, babysitting costs, meals and comforting therapies like massage.
A Deeply Personal Mission
“Many of us have firsthand experience with the amazing services at the Bennett Cancer Center, having been with loved ones on their cancer journey,” said Team Edgehill Captain Joan Weisman. “The community, our neighbors and local businesses are eager to support our effort because they too know how important it is—and how good it feels—to offer care and comfort to patients and their families.”
Community Support and Creative Fundraising
This year’s total came from more than 100 generous donors, many of whom live or work at Edgehill. A major highlight was the Edgeminster Dog Show on May 7, which raised over $11,000 through a silent auction and dog parade featuring 17 community pups and a special appearance by Stamford Health’s therapy dog.
On June 8, 18 Edgehill residents and associates proudly walked the three-mile route together, representing the community’s ongoing commitment to the cause. In addition to forming a team, Edgehill also served as a sponsor of this year’s Hope in Motion Walk.
