Stamford, Conn. – On Sunday, October 8, at Calf Pasture Beach, associates and residents of Edgehill, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Stamford, Conn., cut the ribbon to kick off the 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer’s®. Team Edgehill, the community’s fundraising team, successfully raised over $51,000, thanks to the generous contributions of 127 donors, many of whom were residents or employees of Edgehill.

The team led the fundraising pack in Connecticut, exceeding their goal of $52,000 with an impressive $52,145!

Joan Weisman, team captain, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “It felt good to do something good to support such an important cause. Whether it was our residents making donations or reaching out to past donors with personal letters, it gave us a sense of purpose and fulfillment.”

Team Edgehill organized a raffle and hosted “Play with Your Food,” a fun performance featuring fine dining and comedy. The funds raised for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s® support critical research and enable education and outreach to families impacted by the disease. Weisman, who witnessed the impact of the disease among her peers, emphasized the importance of their collective efforts in making a positive difference.

Edgehill is rooted in the resident-led Social Action Committee, which had been established to carry out good deeds for those in and outside of the Edgehill community.

In 2023, Team Edgehill exceeded its previous fundraising record of $43,000. In addition to being the leading fundraising team in Connecticut, they rank number 35 among the top-earning teams nationwide.
