Riverside Garden Club Visit Highlights Edgehill’s Commitment to Pollinators
Edgehill resident Bev S. welcomed members of the Riverside Garden Club for a guided tour of the community’s four thoughtfully designed garden spaces. The visit offered an opportunity to share ideas, celebrate sustainable landscaping practices and showcase the natural beauty that enhances daily life at Edgehill.
A Garden Tour Through Edgehill
The tour began at the tranquil koi pond garden, now refreshed with eighteen new plantings. From there, guests visited the rooftop gardens, which feature seasonal blooms and an herb garden available for residents to use in their own cooking or for Chef Anthony and his dining team to use for meals in the dining room.

The group continued along the walking paths to the South Wing gardens, where Bev described how the space was transformed from a blank canvas into a vibrant mix of sunny and shaded beds.

A Pollinator-Friendly Meadow

The last stop of the tour was the Pollinator Pathway Meadow and Rock Garden, introduced by fellow resident Laura G. This area is a certified part of the Fairfield Pollinator Pathway, reflecting Edgehill’s commitment to sustainability. The meadow and surrounding gardens are intentionally maintained without chemical pesticides or herbicides to protect pollinators, pets and people alike.
More Than a Garden, A Way of Life
After the tour, the group enjoyed a delightful lunch in the dining room where they discussed their ideas for future garden projects.
This event is just one example of how Edgehill nurtures both environmental stewardship and strong social connections. From curated outdoor spaces to engaging events, Edgehill offers a retirement experience built for the future.
