Edgehill, Stamford’s premier continuing care retirement community (CCRC), announces its 27th anniversary. The community recently celebrated the milestone with a festive cocktail party featuring a chef-prepared menu of seafood strudel, beef wellington, asparagus and lavender panna cotta.

“I am proud of this community and delighted to mark this 27th anniversary with colleagues and residents. A great deal has changed in almost three decades, and it’s been my privilege to have been a part of many of these changes,” said Edgehill Campus Executive Director Chris Cilano, who has been with the community since 2004. “Retirees today are more engaged, active and intellectual than ever, and at Edgehill, we are thrilled to bring their interests and passions to life.”

A Rich History of Luxury CCRC Care and Innovation

Edgehill opened in 1999 as a joint venture between Stamford Hospital and Marriott Hotels with the vision of providing the full continuum of retirement living and healthcare services along with luxury amenities and a refined lifestyle. It initially offered independent living, assisted living and a health center. Benchmark Senior Living acquired Edgehill in 2011 and added the mind & memory care neighborhood in 2017 as part of an $18 million renovation.

Award-Winning Senior Living and Five-Star Care

Over the years, Edgehill has earned numerous awards and ratings for excellence in senior living. These include U.S. News & World Report rankings in best CCRC, Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care categories. Executive Chef Anthony Napolitano has been honored for his culinary skills with a DISHED Senior Living Dining Innovation Award. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Care Compare gives Edgehill a five-star rating, the highest possible for staffing and quality.

Resident Community Outreach and Charitable Giving

A hallmark of the Edgehill community is its dedication to giving back to the broader community with their time, treasure and talent. Of note is the special bond Edgehill shares with the youth at Children’s Learning Center of Fairfield County at Palmer’s Hill, where residents spend time reading to children and celebrating holidays. Residents have also raised more than $500,000 over the years to support Stamford Health’s Bennett Cancer Center and raised nearly $400,000 to support the Alzheimer’s Association. Everyday acts of generosity and neighborly support demonstrate the community’s deep commitment to giving back.

“There’s a remarkable spirit among the residents here, with so many people excited to share their talents and pursue the things they care about,” said resident and Social Action Committee Chair Rose Cingari. “We truly appreciate the life we’ve built at Edgehill, and our ability to continue making a positive impact in our community. Giving back is rewarding, and it helps us stay energized.”
